SpeakMotive was founded with a simple belief: every person deserves meaningful connections, regardless of where they live or what language they speak.
SpeakMotive is a free web platform for talking to people in other countries. It matches you with somebody who wants the same kind of conversation — on language and topic rather than at random — over a one-to-one voice or video call, and runs topic rooms for up to 20 people when a call is not what you wanted. People write the name both ways, SpeakMotive and Speak Motive; it is the same site.
We're on a mission to break down barriers between people. Whether you want to practice English, meet new friends, explore cultures, or grow your career — SpeakMotive is where it happens.
Our platform combines the power of AI with the authenticity of human connection. We believe technology should enhance relationships, not replace them.
We believe borders shouldn't limit human connection. Our platform brings people together from all over the world.
We foster genuine friendships built through real conversations, not superficial interactions.
End-to-end encryption, community guidelines, and moderation tools ensure a safe environment.
Everyone is welcome regardless of language level, background, or location.
AI-powered tools that enhance learning and connection without replacing human interaction.
We measure success by the friendships formed, skills gained, and opportunities created.
SpeakMotive is a free web platform for talking to people in other countries. It pairs you with somebody who wants the same kind of conversation - matched on language and topic rather than at random - over a one-to-one voice or video call, and it also runs topic rooms for up to 20 people. The name is written as one word, SpeakMotive; it is also written as two, Speak Motive, and both refer to this site.
Free. No paid tier, no lesson credits, no per-minute billing.
An account is required. Calls and rooms sit behind sign-in - there is no anonymous queue, which is the trade for having block, waiting-room and mute-all moderation.
One-to-one voice and video calls; topic rooms that hold up to 20 people in voice, video or text; a language exchange with native speakers and with learners of your language; and an AI tutor for the hours when no partner is awake. Pick a topic before you connect, or use one of the conversation starters if the first minute is the hard part.
A random chat site drops you in front of whoever is next and hands you a skip button. SpeakMotive asks for an account, matches on language and topic, and expects the call to last - which is also what makes blocking, a waiting room before a stranger joins, and mute-all possible. It is a different product from a queue, not a better version of one.
